FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Grayscale OS v1.0.

What is Grayscale OS?

Grayscale OS is an Organizational Operating System — infrastructure for collective judgment, institutional memory, executive explainability, and constitutional governance. It is not a chatbot or generic productivity tool.

What does "Bedrock" mean?

Bedrock is the codename for Grayscale OS v1.0 Foundation — the certified, frozen platform layer (event store, memory, graph, intelligence, Mission Control). Future capabilities extend Bedrock; they do not replace it.

Is Grayscale open source?

Grayscale uses an Open Platform strategy: documented APIs and SDK for extensions, with commercial protection for the core OOS, cloud, and enterprise offerings. See the architecture overview for philosophy; full licensing is documented in platform strategy materials.

Can I self-host Grayscale?

Local development and evaluation via Docker is supported today. Production self-hosted and on-premise deployments are Enterprise offerings — contact sales@projectgrayscale.com.

Are AI executives enabled by default?

No. EXECUTIVES_ENABLED=false by default. Executives require certification before activation. Autonomous execution is separately gated (AUTONOMOUS_EXECUTION_ENABLED=false).

What is Mission Control?

Mission Control is the founder command surface — platform health, company readiness, widgets, timeline, and search in one operational view. Learn more →

What is CompanyContext?

A unified, read-only assembly of organizational state consumed by all capabilities. Prevents duplicate storage and ensures every recommendation traces to evidence.

How does governance work?

The Policy Engine evaluates whether actions are permitted. The Governance Kernel is the final checkpoint before execution. Default deny. Explicit allow. Founder approval routing where required.

Can developers build plugins?

Yes — via the Plugin SDK and connector model. Plugins integrate through approved ports; they do not bypass governance.

Where is the API documentation?

API Reference — Mission Control, Intelligence, Integration, and Operations APIs.

How do I get access?

Request Access on the homepage or Contact for enterprise inquiries.

How is documentation versioned?

This Documentation Center tracks Grayscale OS v1.0. Use the version selector in the sidebar. Breaking changes will increment the documented version.

Who owns Grayscale?

Project Grayscale — A AR Holdings Group Company. See Leadership and Contact.
